The Problem with “Strongmen”

  • by

Political strongmen often have a fatal flaw. They create an environment of competition and dominance, but kill off any threat or potential competitors. They see other strong potential allies as a challenge to their own domination. They too often, only keep around weak followers.

In the world they create, there will always be someone trying to take them down, to challenge their control. In a dog eat dog world, they will eventually be eaten too.

They might have a fleeting moment of the illusion of control, but in the end, they will be removed from power and their reign will end.

Cooperation is longer lasting form of government, but must continually be protected from those who want to dominate others.
